Great article, and I certainly share your concern with the increasing concentration of economic power among a small group of corporations (and the people that own them). But I think the quote you ended with alludes to how difficult addressing this issue will be, especially through the Competition Act. Whoever owns the Leafs, they're still going to be the same disappointment come spring, so where's the harm?

It will be really hard to show that large corporations diversifying across sectors, especially if they can reasonably claim to be increasing competition in individual markets, are a problem. This will be particularly true in some of the digital spaces you reference, like smart home software, and media and entertainment, where Canadian corporations can claim they are competing with international behemoths like Google and Netflix.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the Competition Act as a means of addressing everything corporations and to what extent the harm caused by these firms can be demonstrated?
