Who is working on fixing the problems that you mentioned in the piece? If no one is, how can the readers of your substack help? Is the solution for readers of your substack to become government lawyers? There's this trend of people feeling righteous because they can describe the problems with society but not feeling any responsibility to do anything which really bothers me.
I think the first step is sort of the pattern recognition, naming what we experience. A lot of what annoys me falls under "false and misleading advertising." Other elements could be addressed through legislation (e.g. should more things, like self-preferencing, at least be labelled?). I know what you mean re: not getting beyond problem admiration, but we also DO need to story-tell, identify.
I keep reminding myself that the world is not static. It would have been easier to deal with with manipulated product reviews when the problem was nascent instead of now when it is "the way of doing business" and some companies who did not do review manipulation went out of business.
